Children’s picture books offer both examples and excitement for writing students. This class uses recent children’s books to inspire imagination and creativity. List making, letter writing, and dialogues are only some of the writing paths teachers will experience so that they can share the same with their students. This workshop will help all teachers grades K-8 learn creative ways to develop writing prompts from children's books as students find descriptive ways to interpret illustrations and simple text.
Susie Wilde, M.Ed., children’s book columnist for Raleigh’s News and Observer, combines her love of writing, books and teaching in workshops for adults and children. Her published works include a picture book, Extraordinary Chester and Write-A-Thon! Her website (www.ignitingwriting.com) offers reviews on over 200 subjects for children.
